On Saturday, October 25, 2014 St. Sahag – St. Mesrop Armenian Saturday School celebrated Armenian Culture Day in “Magaros Artinian” Hall of the church.
“Այսպիսին Ենք Մենք` Հայերս” Culture Day, was successfully presentated by the talented students of “Ani”, the Eastern Armenian class and the result of tireless and devoted work by their compassionate teacher, Mrs. Marietta Gasparyan. The students of Ani Class were later joined by other students from different grades. Mrs. Nata Navasardyan accompanied the children in the musical portion of the program.
Rev. Archpriest Fr. Zareh Zargarian, the Parish Priest, together with Mr. Ohan Ohanessian, Chairman of the Parish Council, Mrs. Apet Alpay and Dr. Arpi Panossian Muttart, the school Principal, welcomed three distinguished guests to the Holy Trinity Armenian Church. Among the guests were Mr. Karen Mirzoyan, Foreign Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Mr. Armen Yeganian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Canada, and Mr. Megerdic Megerdiciyan, Chairman of the All Armenia Fund in Canada.
Everyone in attendance enjoyed the wonderful performance and exhibition of student projects. On display were students’ artwork alongside Armenian story books, poetry, handmade crafts from Armenia, posters, CDs & videos, maps and much more. Everyone expressed their pride and happiness for witnessing the young generation of Armenians, far away from the Motherland and yet interested and connected to their roots.
In his speech, Minister Mirzoyan expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and encouraged everyone to continue their contact with Armenia and Artsakh. Mr. Mirzoyan reminded the audience that the citizens of his country are aware of the constructive efforts made by Diaspora Armenians, specifically their work in educating new generations of Armenians to be faithful and caring towards their heritage and peaceful future.
In his closing remarks, Fr. Zargarian voiced his appreciation for the work of Principal Panossian, the school Board members, teachers, parents and the students saying “They give meaning and purpose to all the efforts carried out by the church and the school.” Fr. Zargarian invited all to join him in prayer at the end of the program.

On Sunday, October 26th, Rev. Archpriest Fr. Zareh Zargarian celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Holy Trinity Armenian Church. Present among the parishioners were Mr. Karen Mirzoyan, Foreign Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Mr. Armen Yeganian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Canada, Mr. Megerdich Megerdichian, Chairman of the All Armenia Fund in Canada, and Mr. Khoren Mardoyan, Advisor in Canada to the Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia.
Fr. Zargarian welcomed the distinguished guests and introduced two young candidates from our community seeking re-election on October 27th, Mr. Harout Manougian & Mrs. Cindy Hackelberg.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the guests were invited to enjoy a light reception hosted by the Parish Council in the boardroom.
