The Governing Board meetings of the Canadian Council of Churches are underway at Crieff Hills Community, Puslinch, Ontario.
Rev. Archpriest Fr. Zareh Zargarian, a Governing Board Member of the Canadian Council of Church since 1998 and the Ecumenical Officer of the Armenian Apostolic Church Canadian Diocese is taking part in this three daylong meetings, ecumenism and presentation sessions.
On November 25th, Fr. Zargarian joined by Mrs. Rita Odjaghian, Chair of Family Support Services’ of Holy Trinity Armenian Church and Mrs. Maida Icliates, former Chair, and current board member held an informative presentation about their work on Refugee Sponsorship Project. All attendees showed great interest and asked questions in regards to how they could be part of the project.
On second day of the meeting, Fr. Zargarian invited all participants to browse the posters and illustrations that he had posted on the meeting room’s walls. The images reflected on the harsh reality of the Armenian Genocide of 1915. He spoke about the Centennial Anniversary of the Genocide and the importance of full recognition being an important step in prevention of future genocides as they continue to happen around the world.
The participants said this prayer during the evening service:
Christ our God, you crown your saints with triumph and you do the will of all who fear you, looking after your creatures with love and kindness. Hear us from your holy and heavenly realm by the intercession of the Holy Mother of God and by the prayers of all your saints, especially the holy martyrs who gave their lives during the Armenian Genocide for faith and for the homeland, whom we commemorate today. Hear us Lord, and show us your mercy. Forgive, redeem and pardon our sins. Make us worthy thankfully to glorify you with the Father and with the Holy Spirit. Now and always and unto the ages of ages. Amen
