The Holy Trinity Armenian Church of Toronto’s ACYOC Juniors (Armenian Church Youth Organization of Canada) had a successful Annual Ski Trip in Blue Mountain, from March 11-13, 2016.
Rev. Archpriest Zareh Zargarian, Parish Priest welcomed the group of 35 enthusiastic teens to the chalet on this memorable weekend getaway. On the first morning, after breakfast, everyone gathered in the living room area. A large bowl was placed on the table and everyone was asked to leave their cell phones in the bowl. The group joined in a prayer which was followed by the readings from 1 Corinthians 13. Fr. Zargarian led an interesting discussion about love, the way described in the scripture and the topic’s relation to Canonization of the Armenian Genocide’s Martyrs.
Following this, Daron Bedrosyan spoke with the teens about his interesting and life changing experience climbing Mount Ararat to the top.
The weather was spring like and gorgeous in Collingwood. So, many of the participants decided to play soccer and basketball and some went skiing in the afternoon.
The group returned back to Toronto on Sunday, with great memories of an amazing weekend of renewed friendships and new relationships.
The ACYOC Jr. executive members did a wonderful job organizing this trip. Special thanks to Madeline Nazari, Alina Avanes, the wonderful chaperones, Arine Mardirossian, Bianca Kalendar, Varoujan Tanielian and Daron Bedrosyan for their time, care and responsible approach. Special appreciation goes to Fr. Zargarian in making this trip an amazing retreat during which the group had a chance to learn more about their role as young Armenian Christians and the responsibility that comes with it.
