Dear friends, parents and students of St. Sahag – St. Mesrop Armenian Saturday School,
We are excited and looking forward to the re-opining of our Saturday school on September 14th, 2013. This will mark the school’s 58th year of providing Armenian education to the students of many generation. This year, for the opening ceremony, Rev. Archpriest Fr. Zareh Zargarian and the Board of Trustees will be joined by our new principal, Mrs. Arpi Panossian to greet the students and their parents on the first day of Saturday School.
Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Panossian and wishing her a wonderful year ahead. Below is a brief biography of our new principal. We are looking forward to an amazing year ahead. BIOGRAPHY:
Arpi Panossian-Muttart was born in Beirut, Lebanon where she attended Neshan Palanjian Jémaran.
She immigrated to Cambridge, Ontario in 1976 and continued her education. Together with her family, Arpi moved to Toronto in 1981 where she pursued university education. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University in Anthropology and in English.
She completed her Bachelor of Education in 2001 and then her Master of Education in 2005 at Brock University.
Currently, she is completing her doctoral degree at York University. She will defend her dissertation, Armenian Canadian Women in Diaspora: The Role of Higher Education in (Up)rooted lives, Burdened Souls, Enlivened Spirits, and Renegotiated Identities, on September 10, 2013. In the past seven years, she has taught Socialization and Development in the Faculty of Education and has assisted in teaching International Migration in the department of Social Sciences at York University.

Arpi is married to Daved Muttart, a practicing lawyer and a university law instructor. Her daughter, Ani is established in Toronto and works as a health policy consultant while her son, Matthew, attends university in Victoria, BC.
