On Friday, December 7, 2018 the 30th Anniversary Commemorative service and communal prayer dedicated to the victims of the 1988 earthquake in Armenia took place at Holy Trinity Armenian Church of Toronto.
The event was organized by the Interdenominational Committee Chaired by Mr. Hagop Janbazian with participation of the the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church, St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Catholic Church and Armenian Evangelical Church.
Welcoming and opening remarks was delivered by Rev. Archpriest Fr. Zareh Zargarian followed by communal prayers and requiem service accompanied by the Holy Trinity Armenian Church’s choir conducted by Mr. Shahe Altounian and organist, Mrs. Sona Artinian.
Dr. Ani Hasserjian, Chair of The Armenian Canadian Medical Association of Ontario delivered her heartfelt message.
The choir of St. Gregory Armenian Catholic Church’s Saturday School conducted by Mrs. Hripsime Tovmasyan, accompanied on piano by Mr. Vanig Hovhannesian and choir of the ARS Armenian Day school conducted by Mrs. Sona Hovsepyan performed beautiful songs.
The Very Rev. Fr. Keghart Kosbakian delivered the closing remarks.
A flower wreath in memory of the victims of the earthquake was placed at Genocide Memorial located near Holy Trinity Armenian Church.
A light reception followed.
